In my 37 years as a teacher and school administrator at the middle and high school levels, I have been blessed to have built relationships with exceptional people who are totally committed to serving schools. Among the best companies I have ever had the pleasure to partner with has been Belmont Studios,
Locally owned by the third generation of the Cottis family, Belmont opened in Birmingham in 1958. They are a full-service photo lab that completes orders in house with full-time photographers available to maintain consistency when working with schools. Their lead photographer is Wes Little, who is the absolute best photographer with whom I have enjoyed the privilege to work.
The Belmont team also employs former teachers and school administrators to help with coordination at the local school level. This group is led by Katy Burnside, a former Alabama Journalism Teacher of the Year, who produced three award-winning yearbooks at three high schools. Katy will personally work with principals, yearbook advisors, and school secretaries to ensure all needs are met regarding school pictures, yearbook photos, or being an advocate to help schools get what they need in a timely and efficient manner.
During my 19 years as principal at Oak Mountain Middle School, I cannot say enough about the quality service we received from Belmont Studios. From providing quality group photos each year of our entire faculty and staff, taking photos from a boom truck of over1200 middle school students and staff on the football field, to offering online ordering for parents, and providing appreciation meals for our faculty and staff, I cannot say enough positive things about the service of Belmont Studios.

Belmont is easy to work with and is quick to respond when we have any questions or concerns. Our pictures always look fantastic, whether they are school portraits, sports photos, action shots or even our annual staff photo.
We get the proof back quickly, and they are always speedy about getting the Google folders shared with me.
The photographers are the best I’ve ever worked with in my 17 years as a yearbook advisor. Our kids always look fantastic in the pictures, and the photographers are so patient with them. Rebecca gets the job done quickly with no loss of quality, Tom is willing to be adventurous and will take photos or come in to do class instruction on photography, and Patrick is willing to set all his equipment back up after packing for the day for a late kid.
Katy is such a great help to a busy yearbook sponsor. I have many roles at my school and tend to be forgetful, but she is always on top of asking me when we want to schedule things so that nothing falls through the cracks. As a former yearbook sponsor herself, Katy often knows what I need before I realize I need it.
The customer service with Belmont is always on fire. It’s so great to feel like a friend in need instead of a burden.
